A head and shoulders photograph of Darren Knight.Major Darren Knight has recently joined the West Midland Reserve Forces & Cadets Association as the new Regional Employer Engagement Director for Birmingham and the West Midlands County. Darren has a background in both the Armed Forces and civilian workplace, which gives him strong footing for his new role.

Darren joined the Junior Leaders’ Regiment Royal Corps of Transport (RCT) in 1985 at the age of 16 and completed 23 years of Regular Service in both the RCT and Royal Logistic Corps, rising from the rank of Driver to Warrant Officer Class One. Darren commissioned into the Army Reserve as a Captain and studied at the Army Staff College, before becoming a Major in 2014. During his combined 39-years of Service he has deployed operationally to Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Kosovo, Oman, Kuwait and Iraq.

Prior to his new appointment, Darren had been working as the Armed Forces Liaison Manager for Pertemps, who gained the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award in 2016 and had it revalidated in 2021.

Darren was a Gold Award Association (GAA) Regional Lead and was also the GAA’s Special Interest Group lead on Reserves. Still serving in the Army  Reserve, he is currently the Unit Employer Support Officer at 159 Regiment, Royal Logistic Corps.
